3 Just "ok"
I was really excited to find this recording. I immediately ordered it, having high expectations. Once I received it, I was immediately disappointed. Here are some of the problems that I had with the recording: To start off, Stern's playing is a little sloppy. You can often hear surface noise. Squeaks here and there and what not. Also, his intonation is not the best in the world. Another thing I do not like about the album is that Stern does not have a soloistic character to his playing. Often times, in the solo sections of the Haydn concerto he can hardly be heard over the orchestra. However, this album does have a few good traits. The Franz Listz Chamber Orchestra bring much energy to the performances. Often times after orchestral introductions which have much energy and character to it, Stern will enter very timidly and and fall underneath the orchestral accompaniment. Stern does deserve credit for some of his interpretations. Also for everything he has done for the world of music, including saving Carnagie Hall!! I recommend this recording with some reservations. The orchestra is great, and Stern has his moments as well. If you are a fan of Stern, then I would say you should have this recording. If not a fan of Stern, I would look elsewhere.

5 Great Music!
I bought this CD just because of Stern. But now, it has become my favorite. I really like Stern's interpretations of Mozart's & Haydn's music.
