Editorial Review

Australian-born Keith Urban, hot off the double-platinum success of his 2002 sophomore album, Golden Road, is kind of like contemporary country's Tom Cruise. The kid is just so unjustly talented, likeable, and good-looking that it's hard not to hate him. But such jealousy is apt to melt into begrudging admiration and affection after a quick listen to this third album. True, some of Urban's self-penned adolescent love laments and bright-eyed paeans to life in the slow lane do sound a bit callow and derivative. But, with his resolute tenor and his dazzling lead guitar work, he breathes real pain and passion into moving confessionals like Matraca Berg's "Nobody Drinks Alone," "Tonight I Wanna Cry" (a heart-rending ballad co-written by Urban), and a gentle Rodney Crowell gem called "Memories of Us." --Bob Allen

5 Awesome CD.....From start to finish
First I heard of Keith Urban was on Sessions at AOL...I like listening to artist's live first and see if they can really perform - and I was impressed! He did not only look good but he can strum those guitars and crank up the vocals. I was never a big fan of country but when I bought his albums, I listened to it from start to finish (I hardly do that nowadays). I also had a chance of seeing him live in concert......really, really awesome! Definitely not just a studio singer. Highly recommended CD

5 Be Here is a triumph for Keith Urban
Be Here is a cd that every country fan should have in their collection, but interestingly enough, so should any guitar fan. What Urban does with a guitar is almost unbelievable. Face it; this guy is multitalented and when it comes to his guitar, Urban stands in a very small elite group of guitar greats. From the uplifting "Days Go By" to the reprisal of the theme of living life to its fullest on "These Are The Days," Urban packs a tight punch. If the guitar riffs don't pull you in, then the lyrics probably will, and if the lyrics don't get you, then Keith's beautiful tenor voice should do the trick. Whether he's performing songs that he wrote, co-wrote or depending on the masters like Rodney Crowell's magnificent "Making Memories Of Us" every song is well crafted and executed to its fullest. If you love a good acoustic guitar, then you have to listen to "Making Memories of Us;" it's awesome. This third album will not disappoint any Urban fan or country music fan and will surely continue to gain more listeners from other areas as he continues to URBANIZE country music and music in general. My personal favorites from this cd are "Tonight I Wanna Cry," "Making Memories of Us," "Country Comfort," and of course "Days Go By."

5 Urban Sings With Passion & Really Connects!
I was only introduced to the music of Keith Urban a few weeks ago at a friend's home - we listened to the album "Be Here" - and I was immediately taken with his sound. What talent! Apparently he grew up "Down Under" listening to American country music, picked up a guitar at age six and started winning country talent shows by age eight. So, determination is another one of his innate gifts, along with his incredible tenor voice, his fire and dexterity on the guitar, and the ability to write amazing songs! I have listened to the powerful and heartfelt songs on "Be Here" so often I know all the lyrics. I am ready to buy another of his albums - perhaps the second, the double platinum "Golden Road." Urban wrote eight of the thirteen songs on "Be Here," and he co-produced the album with Dann Huff. It's a mix of wonderful ballads, some moody, some sweet, and fast-paced rollicking tunes with strong, driving guitar riffs - all celebrating the joys and somber side of life and love. While this CD does not feature any instrumentals, there are some really great guitar solos. Keith pours his heart out in the outstanding, poignant "Nobody Drinks Alone, penned by Matracia Berg and Jim Collins. This is one of my favorite tracks, as is the heartbreaker "Tonight I Wanna Cry," which is piano based and a surprise for fans who are used to Urban's great guitar accompaniment. I love the beautiful "Making Memories of Us," written by Rodney Crowell. "I Could Fly" is upbeat and magical, and there is a terrific cover of Elton John's 1970's "Country Comfort." I highly recommend this CD - even if you're not a country fan. I think the sound is actually a bit of a fusion of traditional country, bluegrass and rock - however - plain and simply, these are songs filled with passion and performed by an artist who really knows how to connect to the listener.! Accompanying Keith Urban are: Tom Bukovac (acoustic guitar, electric guitar); Dan Huff (acoustic 12-string guitar); Tim Akers (accordion, piano, keyboards); Jimmie Lee Sloas, Paul Bushnell (bass guitar); Chris McHugh, Matt Chamberlain (drums, percussion); Eric Darken (percussion); Russell Terrell (background vocals).JANA
